Paris Marathon - I did it!

Edie Lush - Paris Marathon

Despite a dodgy calf muscle which plagued me the whole way round, I managed to finish the Paris Marathon in 4 hours 19 minutes. It wasn’t quite my hoped for time of sub-4 hours, but by the end I was just happy to run across the finish line! I can report that the first 5 miles of the Paris marathon are beautiful – you run down the Champs Élysées, past the Louvre, with views of the Eiffel Tower. Then there is about 20 miles of parts of Paris you’ve never seen before and don’t really want to see again. There is an interesting section in which you run through a series of tunnels, wondering the whole time which one it was that Lady Di’s car crashed in. Someone offers you wine at about 26 miles and then there is a 200 yard dash to the Arc de Triomphe. My ipod managed to keep me going and I crossed the finish line with a medal to prove it (see picture). My mom and Amity met me in the crush at the end and helped me get back to our rented flat. We then went down to the Pyrenees where we met Cosmo, Malachy and Tabitha and had a week of complete relaxation and recovery.

I raised £1150.20 for Malachy’s school and could not have done this without you! Huge thanks for your generosity – I really appreciate it.
