Global AI Summit

I’ve been thinking about the bet between Sam Altman (CEO of OpenAI) and friends about when we’ll see a single-person company become a Unicorn (billion dollar company).

(What are we going to call these companies? (A soloquorn? A monocorn? A Personicorn?)

I didn’t really get how this was possible until I understood what AI Agents were. Hassan Sawaf of aiXplain broke it down for me at the hashtagglobalaisummit.

AI Agents are tools which automate complex tasks and build systems which would otherwise require many humans. They’re like specialized machines in a smart, flexible factory assembly line. Each agent completes its task and then passes the work down the line to the next AI.

Hassan told me about an insurance company in Florida that was struggling with the influx of calls after a hurricane.  People with destroyed houses had to spend hours on hold, waiting to speak to insurance representatives on the phone. AiXplain created a factory of AI agents to help them streamline claims, which took the number of concurrent claims they could deal with from 75 to 600. The homeowner uploaded a picture of the damage and then the Agents got to work.

Interested in how this actually works?

The Mentalist 🧠 acts as the assembly line’s organizer, breaking down the problem into structured tasks. It analyzes incoming information—like a photo of roof damage—and creates a series of actionable steps for the rest of the line.

The Orchestrator ⚙️ directs it to the most specialized AI “machine” for each specific task, whether it’s visual analysis, data processing, or estimation.

The Matchmaker 💼 acts like an HR department embedded within the assembly line – identifying the best local contractors or service providers to handle the repair work.

The Builder 🛠️ examines damage severity and cost and formulates a repair strategy, assembling each component—time, materials, labor—into an actionable plan ready to move down the line for execution.

The Butler 🧑‍🍳: manages direct communication with the homeowner after the strategy is set. It guides them through next steps with automated updates, keeping everything on track and ensuring the homeowner is informed.

The Inspector 🕵️ ensures quality control at the end of the line, verifying each detail and step meets industry standards. It checks data integrity, confirms compliance, and ensures that data stays in the appropriate regions, protecting privacy and security.

Sawaf has a good line about AI & jobs – “it’s not a question of AI replacing a human; the question is, will the human who has AI as a tool replace the human who doesn’t?” 🔧🤖

I do wonder about this – the question I forgot to ask Hassan was – did all of insurance agents keep their jobs at the company? I wonder how fast can we retrain people when AI replaces them?  Can AI help with that? That’s a personicorn I would be like to see.
